Phytozome Search Tools:
The Tools page allows you to search for genes and gene families using keywords, controlled vocabularies or sequence. Searchable information available for genes includes identifiers, symbols and deflines, and functional and domain annotations. Gene family searchable information includes all the information on their member genes as well as family specific naming and classification.
- Select the species or gene family node you're interested in searching by clicking on a box on the tree to the left. If you mouse over any of the internal boxes, the name of that node will appear. Note that if you select an internal node, you are searching for gene families that may contain genes from one or more of the highlighted species.
- Once you've selected your search target, choose a search tool from the list to the right by clicking on its green button. If you've chosen an internal node (e.g, searching for angiosperm gene families), only the Keyword and BLAST tools are active. If you choose a crown node (e.g., Populus trichocarpa), you can search via Keyword, BLAST (sequence search against genomes and proteomes), BLAT (for fast genome searches with high-similarity sequences), as well as go to directly to that species' genome browser, information page, and bulk data download site.
- Specify your search criteria, and click Submit. You can learn more about the individual search tools here
